Advanced Dressings
Even in today’s high tech area of wound care management, the most common dressing used by physicians is gauze. Gauze has the advantage of being inexpensive; however, gauze has the disadvantage of being a tedious, painful, and time-intensive dressing. There are much better dressing materials that prevent formation of bacteria and promote the healing processes necessary inside the wound. The use of these advanced dressings makes dressing change less frequent, less painful, and less expensive while healing the wound more rapidly and completely.
